Agapanthus campanulatus subsp. patens 'Mooreanus'

African Lily

Plant Type:

BULBS

Agapanthus campanulatus subsp. patens ‘Mooreanus’ (syn. “hardy blue Wayside clone”) – This African Lily is apparently hardy in central Illinois. Ellen Hornig, owner of Seneca Hill in Oswego, NY reports that it returns annually once their always assured snow melts away… the blanket of snow undoubtedly aids in its return there. Incidentally, it is through Ellen’s sage instruction that she has properly ID’d this cultivar as ‘Mooreanus’. I think it will be as likely to prosper and bloom even in our less predictable winters in northeastern Connecticut, USDA zone 5b (-15F) if it were mulched and/or set in a sheltered location. Medium blue rounded flower heads over typical strap-shaped foliage. Clumping. Site all Agapanthus campanulatus in sun planted in draining fertile soil. Division.
